AMUSE Casuals Bargaining Update #1
AMUSE has commenced bargaining with McGill University - We sat down with them for the first time on February 27th for an hour, and booked 14 separate bargaining sessions over the rest of the year. As a reminder, our current one in effect expired on May 31st, 2025. Your negotiating team at the table are the following AMUSE members and staff:
Jonathan Nehme - President - Communications Assistant in University Advancement
Neha Jhaj - Grievance Officer - Office Assistant in Pathology
Taylor Wilson - Athletics Union Steward and Board Member - Lifeguard and Swim Instructor in Athletics
Domi Wong - Labour Relations Officer - Residence Life Facilitator
Josef Jakubec - The Chair of the Board of Representatives - Residence Life Facilitator
Tricia Robinson - AMUSE Union Advisor
Marie-Ange Mundela - PSAC Union Advisor
What are we negotiating?
In 2024 and 2025, we connected with AMUSE members to hear what mattered most to them, and we solidified those priorities at our Special General Meeting in September 2025. AMUSE members want better wages that keep up with inflation, more stability in their contracts, recognition in the workplace, and more benefits to their work/life balance. We formed those priorities into demands that give us a collective agreement that works for us. Being a casual worker does not mean we are undeserving of stability and security!
How do we win it?
Member participation - The Bargaining team is prepared to fight at the table for a better collective agreement, but in order to secure strong wins, we need the presence of our fellow union members! A strong collective agreement and better working conditions cannot happen without you.
Member presence - During the duration of negotiations with our Employer, we will be holding community-based events, info sessions, and important meetings. The more members who show up, the stronger our collective is! We need you there!
Showing that we’re ready to fight! - By showing our visible and mobilized presence to the University, they will know we’re not joking. Casual workers deserve BETTER. Full stop.
You can sign up for volunteer shifts over the coming months! The more hands helping out, the easier it will be! Contact us at outreach@amusepsac.org and communications@amusepsac.org to find out how to get in involved.
How to stay up to date on progress?

Setting up a 1on1 with someone on the bargaining team:
We believe a Union should have the bargaining team available to the members. By making ourselves available for 1on1 conversations, and to answer any specific questions you have, we are given the opportunity to genuinely and authentically engage with each other! Email bargaining@amusepsac.org & outreach@amusepsac.org to set up an appointment!
